Jennifer graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 2010. She hs volunteered with the King County Bar Association's Family Law Mentorship Program and the Lawyers Fostering Independence Program. During law school, Jennifer was involved in advocacy relating to youth and the homeless community of Seattle. She was Co-Founder and Co-President of the Seattle University chapter of Street Youth Legal Advocates of Washington (SYLAW) and served as Content Development Editor on the Seattle Journal for Social Justice, where she curated a volume on Transgender Issues and the Law. She also was on the Dean's List in 2008 and received the CALI Award for Excellence for her work in Administrative Law in 2009. In 2009, Jennifer shared the Seattle University Justice in the Community Award with her Co-Founder and Co-President, as well as SYLAW itself.

During law school Jennifer interned with Columbia Legal Services in Seattle, primarily focusing on issues related to right to counsel for children in dependencies in Washington, including contributing to the court enforcement of the settlement agreement in Braam v. State. Jennifer also worked at the Center for Children & Youth Justice as a research assistant for Justice Bobbe J. Bridge (ret.) and as coordinator for the Lawyers Fostering Independence Program, a pro bono program providing civil legal assistance to youth 17-23-years old who aged out of foster care.

Prior to law school, Jennifer was a Court-Appointed Special Advocate in Bronx, NY. She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University in 2000 with a B.A. in Religion, and she received her M.A. in Modern Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2004.
